OUR TOWN C. 1850-2000

MAIN STREET, SOUTH

The front door into Dunnes the Butchers' private residence once stood here. The initials on the gate refer to Tara Court - leading to Bull Lane - which was built in 1985 and opened in Spring 1986. One of the first shops there was Laois Education Supplies which later moved to Bull Lane, then Church Street and, as Eason's, back to Bull Lane where it is today. From 2005 to April, 2014, its owner, John McNamee, was President of the European and International Booksellers Federation. The man keeping our streets clean, often against overwhelming odds, is John Hartford.

Get rid of your athlete's foot, check your financial situation, take up knitting, dickie yourself up, have your picture taken clutching a bunch of flowers, see into the future. What more could you ask for?
